Corton Charlemagne
A Grand Cru Burgundy white Chardonnay from the village of Aloxe
Corton, Cote de Beaune. One of the greatest white wines in the world.
You should keep this wine for at least 5 years before drinking, it can
often be kept 10, 15, 20 years and more depending on the year.
An average price per bottle begins a 300 french francs.
The story of this wine is very old. The wife of the first French king
(Charlemagne) became very annoyed with the stains of red wine on her good
husbands white beard. Eventually she called upon the monks for help, and
she asked them to make a wine that did not stain. After much work and
labour the monks made a white wine.
