This is the most southern department on the Atlantic coast and borders with Spain.
The Pyrenees mountains separating France and Spain, provide many resources for the area. Eternal snows, agriculture, tourism and wildlife.
The two cities of Bayonne and Pau (both important Rugby teams), have dense populations as the surrounding countryside has been deserted.
