Regional information about Franche-comte, France
The Franche-Comte is on the eastern side of France and borders withSwitzerland. In the lower Jura, Doubs valley, mountain area the agriculture is mainly dairy, some wine. Another very important industry is the production of cheese but there is also forestry, optical, furniture. Part of the Burgundy whilst the famous Burgundian Dukes where in power,the France Comte was also part of the Hapsbourg house from Austria, but finally became part of France in 1674. Regional capital : Besançon
