7.30 am = Il est sept heures trente.
8.40 am = Huit heures quarante.
9.45 am = Neuf heures quarante cinq.
Quarter to One = Une heure moins le quart.
Quarter past two = Deux heures et quart.
Half past three = Trois heures et demie/ trois heures trente.
10 to 4 = Quatre heures moins dix.
20 to 5 = Cinq heures moins vingt.
13.05 =Treize heures cinq.
14.25 = Quatorze heures vingt cinq.
15.30 = Quinze heures trente.
16.42 = Seize heures quarante deux.

The French use the 24 hour clock in every day conversation, they will not say 1.00 pm, but 13.00, "treize heures"

Useful French Phrases

Quelle heure est il ?
What time is it?

Il est sept heures.
It's 7 o'clock.

Dix secondes.
Ten seconds.

Dans deux minutes, merci.
In two minutes, thank you.

Vingt quatre heures.
Twenty four hours.

Sept jour par semaine.
Seven days a week.

À neuf heures.
At 9 o'clock.

Il est midi.
It is midday.

À minuit.
At midnight.

Je commence à huit heures trente (huit heures et demie).
I begin at 8.30.

Je termine à trois heures trente
I finish at half past three.

Je suis en retard.
I'm late.

Est ce que je suis trop tôt ?
Am I too early ?

Je vous vois demain.
will see you tomorrow

À la semaine prochaine.
Until next week.

Il est parti hier.
He left yesterday.
