French cinema and films

As the French often like to do things differently to the the rest of the world, their attitude towards the cinema and film making is no different.

The first ever animated film was made by Louis and Auguste Lumière on the 28th December 1895, they deposed a patent on 13th February 1895. The first film they showed to the public was called "La sorite des usines Lumières" and "L'arroseur arrosé".

Romance and love stories have a special atmosphere, with the added beauty a French actress, the films become works of art, in blank and white or colour.

Often the French cinema worked with the Italiens to produce classics such as Les Cages aux Folles.

Comedies such as Les Visiteurs have been translated into many languages.

Action films can be of the highest international levels as in Nikita by Besson.
